Job summary

The Marlborough Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Moderate or Severe Needs) for Goodnow Elementary School in Marlborough, MA. The role handles a sub-separate program in an elementary setting with up to 10 students, within the 2026-27 school year, starting August 31, 2026.

Responsibilities include developing IEPs, data-driven instruction, collaboration with general education staff, families, and outside agencies, and maintaining compliant records.

Qualifications

• Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in Special Education in the area of Severe Needs, or Moderate Needs with ABA experience required.
• DESE Special Education License must cover the elementary grade levels.
• Experience as a Special Education Teacher in a Theraputic Learning enviornment strongly preferred.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution, preferred.
• Experience working with students within the inclusion, small group and individual settings.
• SEI Endorsement
• Bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese Preferred)
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect instructional support to students as per their IEPs.
• Demonstrates knowledge of developmental levels and differentiates learning experiences.
• Participates in Team meetings and develops/implements IEPs with measurable goals.
• Ensures compliance with IEPs and maintains accurate student records.
• Delivers instruction with measurable outcomes and supports higher-order thinking.
• Collaborates with general education teachers to modify curricula for students with disabilities.
• Organizes and analyzes assessment results to guide interventions and progress.
• Collaborates with parents, outside agencies and building staff.
• Communicates progress to families and seeks feedback on practices.
• Maintains high expectations and fosters a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Demonstrates professional responsibility and timely paperwork.
