Job summary

Egg Harbor Township Board of Education seeks a Special Education Teacher for elementary students at Dr. Miller Elementary School. The role focuses on delivering instructional services to students with IEPs and coordinating with CST to ensure appropriate supports.

This 10-month position requires strong classroom management and collaboration with families. Responsibilities include creating differentiated lessons, implementing effective teaching strategies, and monitoring student progress.

Qualifications

• NJ Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students With Disabilities Certification (Standard, CEAS, CE)
• Knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS)
• Excellent classroom management
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to speak English clearly and accurately
• Ability to create and implement lesson plans with differentiated instruction
• Ability to collaborate with CST members
• Ability to implement and follow students' IEPs
• Ability to engage and educate students with autism
• Ability to involve paraprofessionals in instruction and rules
• Ability to communicate with parents/guardians
• Ability to pass Pre-Employment Physical Exam
• Ability to pass Criminal History Review
• Ability to pass Sexual Misconduct Child Abuse Disclosure

Responsibilities

• Create and follow daily lesson plans with differentiated teaching
• Apply best practices and strategies in instruction
• Engage and motivate students
• Coordinate with CST to ensure appropriate services for students
• Maintain a safe and conducive learning environment
• Modify student assessments as needed
• Communicate with parents/guardians
• Establish and enforce classroom rules
• Prepare materials and classrooms for activities
• Teach personal development like goal setting and self-advocacy
• Counsel students with academic or adjustment concerns
• Observe and assess student performance and well-being
• Instruct daily living skills for independence
• Use technology and AV aids to supplement instruction
