Job summary

Havre Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Special Education Teacher (Grade and Building to be determined) for two positions. The 2026-27 salary for first-year teachers with no experience ranges from $43,507 to $65,450, depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities include developing IEPs, participating in MDT and IEP meetings, delivering appropriate educational programs, and collaborating with staff, parents, and other professionals.

Qualifications

  • Licensed and endorsed according to state rules or enrolled in an internship with supervisory assignment.
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Ability to relate to and work with children and/or adolescents.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to present information clearly to students, parents, staff and the community.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employment and student matters.
  • Ability to manage time and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Attends and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Provides an appropriate educational program for each student.
  • Instructs students in special education skill areas.
  • Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
  • Monitors student progress in and outside the special education room.
  • Reports suspected child abuse according to state law.
  • Maintains regular contact with parents of students.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops.
  • Evaluates student progress, sets goals and directions.
  • Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, and observation records.
  • Consults with other professionals regarding students' progress.
  • Supervises students, classroom aides, and volunteers.
