Job summary

Winchester Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Teacher to strengthen students' academic, behavioral, emotional, and social skills and to maximize their potential for returning to mainstream classes.

The teacher will implement an education program aligned with each student's IEP, administer tests, observe behavior, and collaborate with staff to develop data-driven interventions. This is an on-site position with strong emphasis on teamwork and communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or equivalent training.
• Valid Connecticut Teaching License.
• Experience with behavior management and collaborative problem solving.
• Ability to lead staff in areas of specialization.
• Strong English communication, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Administers and evaluates educational diagnostic testing and observations.
• Designs instructional tasks aligned to curricular goals.
• Collects, graphs and analyzes academic and behavioral data.
• Implements de-escalation strategies and CPI when needed.
• Writes IEPs and maintains IDEA compliance.
• Provides progress reports to supervisor, team and parents.
