Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services is looking for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our staff in Ringgold, Georgia. This role focuses on creating and executing Individualized Education Plans (IEP) to help students achieve their fullest potential. Qualifications

• Must have a valid Georgia teaching certificate in a qualifying Special Education field.
• A Special Education Visual Impairment Endorsement is required.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for students.
• Communicate with staff and family about student progress.
• Prepare detailed lesson plans for approval.
• Participate in scheduled IEP meetings.
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques for students.
• Invite family members to participate in educational progress.
• Create and distribute quarterly progress reports.
• Confer with on-site therapists on student issues.
• Create a safe, productive classroom environment.

Special Education Teacher Qualifications

• A valid Georgia teaching certificate in a qualifying Special Education field (typically Special Education P–12 or Special Education General Curriculum/Early Childhood Education), at a Level 4 or higher.
• A Special Education Visual Impairment Endorsement issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC).

Special Education Teacher Responsibilities

• Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each of the students in your care
• Communicate with other staff and family members about each student's progress and struggles
• Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval
• Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school
• Use individualized reinforcement techniques to keep each student on the path toward greatness
• Invite family members to participate in each student's educational progress
• Create and distribute progress reports quarterly
• Confer with on-site therapist over disciplinary and behavioral issues with students
• Create a safe, productive classroom environment
