Job summary

Palmer Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional at Old Mill Pond Elementary School in Palmer, MA. The role involves supporting students with special needs under classroom guidance and providing personal care as needed throughout the day.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or some college coursework in Education; ABA experience and excellent communication skills are preferred. Starting date is immediate; salary is according to contract and near $30 per hour scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or some college coursework in Education preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs at the elementary level preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• ABA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• The paraprofessional will work effectively with students with special needs to reinforce and support learning based on the classroom teacher’s instruction.
• Assist teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing and supporting skills.
• Maintain flexibility and team attitude for responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
• Provide personal care for students as needed throughout the school day.
• Attend trainings as required.
• Assist with monitoring students taking standardized tests.
• Assist with other students as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by principal, teacher, special education teacher, or BCBA.
