Qualifications

• Must have RI Teacher Certification for All Grades Special Education - Severe Intellectual Disability.
• Develops and implements IEP goals and objectives based on evaluation results.
• Coordinates with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and others to develop IEPs.
• Instructs students in all academic subjects with appropriate adaptations.

Responsibilities

• Teaches elementary school subjects to students with neurological, mental, emotional or behavior impairments.
• Plans curriculum and prepares lessons to meet individual student needs and developmental levels.
• Collaborates with parents and professionals to develop and review IEPs.
• Maintains accurate records and communicates progress to stakeholders.
• May work in self-contained classroom or resource room.
