Position Goal

Plan and implement age appropriate lessons meeting the needs of individuals enrolled in the elementary grade level program and create a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, while establishing effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed as a foundation to become lifelong learners; and establish positive relationships with parents, staff and community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction based on district-approved curriculum.
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
  • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians by means of conferences, notes, phone calls, e‑mail, digital communication and newsletters.
  • Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Identify pupil needs, make appropriate referrals, and participate in developing strategies for individual education plans.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Plan and coordinate work of paraprofessionals, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on educational trips.
  • Create a functional and organized environment for learning.
  • Adhere to Pennsylvania Professional Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Pennsylvania Elementary Teaching Certification, preferred Grades 5-6 certification.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents.
  • Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; to plan and implement lessons based on curriculum objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
  • Well organized with good time management skills.
  • Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
  • Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

Terms of Employment
  • Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Roberts Education Association.
  • Bachelor's Degree starting $60,250; Master's Degree starting $65,900; Final salary determined by education and experience.
  • According to the School District Policy Manual (available online at www.ojrsd.com).
