Job summary

Wayzata Public Schools is hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals to support students with academic, self-care, and social/behavioral needs for the 2026-27 school year.

Hours: 6.5 hrs/day, Monday–Friday, 8:15 am–3:15 pm or 7:30 am–2:30 pm. Pay starts at $24.83/hour. Locations: Wayzata Elementary Schools.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; must meet Minnesota Department of Education paraprofessional competency requirements.
  • Non-violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training may be required.
  • Experience with students who present emotional/behavioral challenges preferred.
  • Ability to lift, pull, and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working across varied settings.
  • Computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement assigned tasks in conjunction with students' IEPs under direction of the special education teacher.
  • Supervise vulnerable students and assist with academic, social, motor, and functional classroom activities.
  • Observe, document, and communicate student academic and social behavior data to teachers and supervisors.
  • Assist with mobility, self-help skills (feeding, dressing), toileting, and adaptive equipment.
  • Monitor halls, common areas, and transportation needs; accompany students to specialists.
  • Maintain strict student confidentiality and enforce school rules.
