Qualifications

• Minimum: School Counselor license issued by NMPED.
• Knowledge of elementary and secondary counseling practices.
• Ability to maintain relationships with teachers, administrators, and families.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate needs assessments for the counseling program and evaluate for improvement.
• Develop a school counseling program driven by student data to support academics and personal/social development.
• Implement the ASCA four components: Foundation, Management, Delivery, Accountability.
• Share plans with principals and staff and keep them informed of progress.
• Provide short-term individual and group counseling for students.
• Refer families to outside agencies for mental health needs.
• Orient students and parents on education goals and career objectives.
• Consult with administration and staff on student needs.
• Participate in district counseling meetings to stay current on policies.
