Responsibilities

• Provides learning opportunities for English language acquisition across district curriculum.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for small and large group instruction.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a conducive learning environment.
• Regularly assesses student academic and social growth; maintains records and progress reports.
• Communicates with parents through conferences, newsletters, email, phone, and SIS postings.
• Secures interpreters/translations for communicating with families as needed.
• Identifies student needs and collaborates with staff to help students access the curriculum.
• Creates an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.

Dayton Consolidated School is a highly rated, public school located in DAYTON, ME. It has 118 students in grades PK, K-5 with a student-teacher ratio of 10 to 1

Brief Job Duties

• Provides learning opportunities for English language acquisition across district curriculum.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials to provide customized, small and large group instruction.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Regularly assesses each student's academic and social growth, maintains appropriate and timely records, and prepares progress reports.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means such as newsletters, email, phone calls, student information system postings (as applicable), web pages, blogs, and other electronic means to discuss student's progress as it relates to curriculum.
• Secures interpreters and translations of important documents as an additional means for communicating with families.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to help students assess and benefit from the district curriculum.
• Creates an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.

Certification/License

Eligible for appropriate Maine Department of Education ELL Certification. (660)

Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education

Education

Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Masters Degree in related area preferred.

Experience

Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred but not required.

Compensation

Based on education level, experience, and per the collective bargaining agreement

• Range: $12,437.50 - $20,412.50
