Job summary

Wichita Public Schools seeks an Elementary School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. This 0.6 FTE position provides guidance and counseling services to students, staff, and families under the direction of the Building Principal and the Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling Services.

The Counselor will design and deliver individual, group, and classroom guidance, consult with teachers on career education and student development, interpret assessment results, and coordinate with community

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling is required or in progress with eligibility for Provisional School Counselor License
• KSDE issued School Counselor License required
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements guidance/counseling programs for pupils as directed by the Building Principal
• Provides individual and group counseling and classroom guidance
• Acts as a consultant to teachers on career education, classroom climate, and learning styles
• Interprets test results to pupils, parents, and staff; informs postsecondary opportunities
• Maintains records and assists in curriculum development based on pupil needs
• Participates in Child Study Team and coordinates with community agencies for referrals
