Job summary

USD 259 in Wichita, Kansas is seeking a School Counselor - Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The 0.6 FTE position provides guidance and counseling to students, staff, and families under the supervision of the Building Principal and Guidance Coordinator.

The counselor will develop classroom and small-group guidance, support testing interpretations, and assist with postsecondary planning and career opportunities while maintaining confidentiality and a professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in School Counseling is required or pursuing with provisional license eligibility
• KSDE issued School Counselor License required
• Ability to communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, and build positive relationships with students, staff, and families

Responsibilities

• Designs and implements guidance programs and activities for pupils
• Provides individual and group counseling
• Supports postsecondary planning and career exploration
• Consults with teachers on classroom climate and student needs
• Interprets tests and assists with curriculum and program development
• Maintains records and ensures confidentiality
• Participates in Child Study Team and referrals
