Qualifications

• Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school with training/experience to provide general classroom/instructional assistance.
• Strong office, computer, and oral and written communication skills; knowledge of basic subjects taught in district schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading.

Responsibilities

• Assist a certificated teacher by reinforcing instruction to individual/small groups; monitor drills and assignments.
• Assist students with completing assignments, provide examples, emotional support, and guidance.
• Perform clerical duties: prepare/duplicate/organize instructional materials, grade tests, maintain student records.
• Assist with implementing lesson plans and communicating instructions to students.
• Observe/record student behavior and progress; supervise during outdoor/recess activities.
• Read books to students and assist with reading, pronunciation, spelling and writing tasks.
• Prepare and arrange work areas, decorations, supplies and displays; manage materials.
• Ensure health and safety practices; maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
