Job summary

Henry County Schools is seeking a Safety & Support Monitor - Elementary to assist in promoting a safe school environment. This non-exempt, hourly position supports students and staff during school hours and transitions.

Responsibilities include monitoring campus security, supervising students, supporting behavior management strategies, and attending training workshops. Reliable attendance and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or state-approved equivalency.
• Knowledge of childhood growth and development.
• Demonstrates integrity, confidentiality and strong professional reputation.
• Complies with Georgia Ethics Code for Educators.
• Regular, predictable attendance at work.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and supervise students during emergencies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; observe safety and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Work with other school personnel to assist students in developing techniques to regulate and manage emotions, encourage positive student behavior, and promote safety in the school.
• Maintain an ongoing review of the physical security of the assigned school location.
• Assist building administrators with the continuous monitoring of the school campus.
• Assist with the supervision of students during transitions in the hallways, meeting the expectations of school administrators.
• Alert building administrators of any safety and security concerns throughout the school day.
• Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior.
• Assist students in examining misbehavior and developing strategies to prevent reoccurrences.
• Coordinate, provide, and supervise instructional and behavioral activities for assigned students.
• Attend and participate in training workshops.
• Maintain confidentiality of all school information concerning students, staff, and school business.
• Attend faculty meetings and other meetings as required by school administrator.
• Demonstrate positive working relationships with the students, building administration team, building staff, and community stakeholders.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
