Position Overview

Livonia Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified physical education teacher who will motivate each student in cultivating physical fitness and developing positive physical, social, and emotional health. The teacher will identify and implement best practices in instruction and student achievement. The teacher will develop strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in each student through individual and team activities and sports.

District Context

Livonia Public Schools employs approximately 1,800 staff members, serving around 13,200 students from pre-K through post-secondary. The district includes 15 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, and various specialized centers. The annual budget is $176 million, with a per pupil funding of $9,600.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsements in MX or MB
• Bachelor’s degree; a major in the subject area is preferred
• Passionate commitment to improving student learning
• Positive interpersonal skills
• Ability to individualize instruction
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
