Job summary

Southampton Elementary School is seeking Permanent Substitute Teachers to provide instructional support and classroom coverage throughout the school year. The role ensures continuity of instruction by implementing lesson plans and maintaining a positive learning environment during the absence of the regular teacher.

Appointments are per diem with assignments spanning September 2, 2026 – June 25, 2027. Location is Southampton Elementary School, with three positions available.

Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification.
• Experience with secondary students preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to adapt to a variety of grade levels and subject areas.
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities provided by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.
• Follow school procedures for attendance, classroom management, and student supervision.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
