Job summary

BACKMAN ELEMENTARY in Salt Lake City is seeking a part-time Elementary PE Instructor to supervise and teach elementary students within the district PE program.

The role requires a high school diploma and ESSA-qualified paths, fingerprinting, and strong English communication. The position runs 0.7375 FTE (up to 29.5 hours/week) with a starting wage of $22.00 hourly and no benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• Fingerprinting and criminal background check required
• Highly Qualified per ESSA criteria with one of the approved academic paths
• Proficiency with standard office equipment and school software
• Strong written and verbal English skills

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in physical skills per the State Core Physical Education curriculum.
• Monitor students in diverse settings to provide a safe learning environment.
• Implement individual learning and behavior plans to support student needs.
• Prepare teaching materials and document progress (attendance, records).
• Perform clerical tasks to support administrators.
• Assess student learning and participation regularly.
• Maintain safety and address incidents per policy.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to improve student outcomes.
• Assist other personnel as needed.
• Adapt to changing priorities and maintain attention to detail.
