Qualifications

• NJ instructional certificate in Physical Education and Health.
• Hold and maintain CPR/First Aid certifications.
• If assigned responsibilities for teaching swimming, must hold and maintain an American Red Cross water safety certificate registered with the New Jersey State Department of Education.
• Have experience in teaching and working with students in the field of comprehensive health and physical education, unless entering teaching from an alternative certification program.
• Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA.
• Excellent classroom management.
• Effective instructional practices and strategies.
• Experience working with elementary students.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and good moral character.
• Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others.
• Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community.
• Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
• Diagnose student strengths and weakness and match those skills with appropriate techniques and materials.
