Job summary

WHITTIER ELEMENTARY seeks a Paraprofessional I (PT) to assist teachers in supervising and guiding students in general education classrooms. You will help keep students engaged, reinforce lesson plans, and provide clerical support to promote academic growth.

The role requires fingerprinting, background check, and ESSA qualification paths. The position is part-time, with a starting wage of $18.50/hour and limited benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ESSA Highly Qualified via two years college, associate degree, or Parapro assessment.
• CPR & First Aid within 2 months of hire.
• Annual Health Services Training required.
• Strong English reading, writing and communication skills.
• Basic math including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Experience with standard office equipment and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom work under teacher direction to reinforce lesson plans.
• Administer tests and monitor student progress under teacher supervision.
• Collaborate with teacher to evaluate student progress and implement objectives.
• Support learning and behavior plans to meet IEP goals and health plans.
• Monitor students in various settings to maintain a safe learning environment.
• Prepare materials and perform clerical tasks to support lesson plans.
