Job summary

Delmar School District is seeking an Elementary School Music Teacher to develop students' appreciation of music and teach vocal expression, while identifying and nurturing talent and skills in listening and reading music.

The teacher will plan lessons, integrate technology, and maintain accurate records of student progress, with a focus on meeting diverse student needs and delivering high-quality instruction aligned to curriculum standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Education and/or Music.
• Eligible for NCLB Highly Qualified Designation in Music.
• Possess or be eligible for educator licensure in Delaware for Music.
• Mastery of content knowledge and skills to teach Music and deliver standards-based instruction.
• Proficiency in automated student information systems for progress and grade reporting; technology integration preferred.
• Strong classroom management, organization, planning, instructional delivery, leadership, and differentiation.
• Ability to motivate and build relationships with students and parents to promote achievement.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily and unit lesson plans aligned with curriculum and integrate technology.
• Plan for substitute teachers when absent and relate lessons to state standards.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment that engages students and tracks achievement.
• Provide timely feedback and maintain high expectations for student learning.
• Communicate with parents and collaborate with staff regarding student progress.
• Display professional conduct and participate in extracurricular activities or leadership roles.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through classes and workshops.
