Job summary

Brandywine Community Schools is seeking a dependable K-2 Lunchroom Monitor to supervise the cafeteria and lunch recess, promote safe, respectful behavior, and help students enjoy a positive lunchtime experience. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, assisting younger students with routines, and calmly addressing minor issues or conflicts while following district safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to supervise and ensure the safety of children in the lunchroom and on the playground.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with students and staff.
• Patience, reliability, and a calm demeanor when working with young children.
• Ability to enforce school rules consistently and respectfully.
• Capable of responding appropriately to minor injuries or incidents; basic first aid knowledge is a plus.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and monitor large areas for extended periods.
• Prior experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in the lunchroom to ensure safe, respectful behavior and adherence to school rules.
• Monitor students during recess, promoting safe play and resolving minor conflicts as needed.
• Assist younger students with opening food items or navigating the lunch routine as needed.
• Report any accidents, injuries, or behavioral concerns to appropriate school staff promptly.
• Follow all school safety and security protocols
• Complete all required annual district training
• Additional duties may be assigned.
