Job summary

Jamestown Community Center in San Francisco is seeking a part-time Girls Got Goals Coach to lead and coordinate the 3rd-5th grade girls’ soccer team within the After-School program. Practices occur three days weekly, culminating in a league with other elementary schools in spring.

The role requires coaching experience with 7-10-year-old girls, engagement with diverse youth, and strong teamwork with staff, parents, and youth workers. English and Spanish abilities are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Passion for Jamestown’s mission and commitment to providing high-quality youth development.
  • Must be available between 2:30 pm and 6:45 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Salesforce.
  • Experience coaching soccer with 7-10-year-old girls preferred.
  • Experience in girls’ sports programming.
  • Experience working with multi-ethnic, multicultural youth.
  • Experience developing team-building exercises and gender-specific workshops.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Fingerprints and tuberculosis clearance upon hire.
  • Provide documentation that meets SFUSD Instructional Aide requirements or take an equivalency exam.
  • Open to obtaining a US Soccer coaching license.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise youth during practices and games.
  • Supervise and provide support to a youth worker (YAPster).
  • Assist with transportation to games and workshops.
  • Coach games.
  • Supervise players.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding game schedules, behaviors, and attendance issues.
  • Collaborate with the Sports Program Manager to create workshops addressing team‑building, identity formation, and age‑appropriate issues.
  • Attend supervision meetings with the Sports Director.
  • Provide support with required paperwork, such as collecting attendance and creating flyers.
  • Communicate with parents and youth about the program.
  • Meet regularly with the Sports Director.
  • Actively participate in supervision meetings, staff meetings, training, and After‑School meetings.

Since 1971, Jamestown Community Center has been providing learning opportunities and safe spaces for low‑income youth in San Francisco’s Mission District. Our youth represent a low‑income, racially and ethnically diverse community. We serve a core group of neighborhood youth with multiple high‑impact programs that help them transition from children into confident young adults, including arts instruction, academic tutoring, sports, leadership development, employment, counseling, and parent programs. Position Description

The Girls Got Goals coach will lead and coordinate the 3rd-5th grade girls’ soccer team at one of our sites within our After‑School program. The school‑year program offers practices three days a week and culminates with the Girls Got Goals League, which includes other local elementary schools’ girls’ teams in the spring.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds.
  • Work conditions include standard office and school settings; occasional travel within the Bay Area.
  • Use computer, phone, copier and office equipment.
  • Fingerprint and TB clearance required.
Benefits

This is an hourly, non‑exempt, part‑time position up to 25 hours a week with no benefits.
