Job summary

Iowa City Community School District is seeking an Elementary Supervisory Paraeducator for Lincoln Elementary in Iowa City. This part-time 4-hour/day position assists teachers, supports student learning, and helps maintain a safe, positive classroom environment.

Qualifications include AA or BA degree or para certification; experience with children is preferred, with strong teamwork and adaptability. Salary is around $16.05/hour, with 175 contract days per year.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children preferred
• Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred
• Self-starter with intuitive understanding of student needs
• Ability to work with teachers, staff, admins, and parents as part of a team
• Adaptable to varied assignments and situations
• Good judgment when unexpected problems arise

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess and lunch
• Assist with health concerns and medicine distribution
• Prepare materials for instruction with teachers
• Assist in media center when needed
• Maintain confidentiality of student records
• Conform to the negotiated paraeducator agreement
• Other duties as assigned
