Job summary

Fairfield Community Schools is seeking an Elementary Interventionist – RtI Specialist to support Tier II and Tier III students within the regular classroom setting. You will plan instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with teachers, school psychologist, and SST to refine intervention strategies.

Responsibilities include implementing RtI plans, analyzing data, and maintaining accurate records, all while upholding district policies and state guidelines to promote student achievement.

Title: Elementary Interventionist – RtI Specialist
Description

Responsible for push-in and pull-out support in planning instruction and/or adaptation of the instructional program using the Response to Intervention (RtI) model to facilitate student learning in accordance with corporation policies and state guidelines. Design and implement specific strategies designed to promote academic growth in all identified intervention students. Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of specific RtI strategies and interventions in order to refine Teir I, Tier II, and Tier III levels of support. Supports the instructional programs with regular and special education teachers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Execute the following duties and responsibilities related to Tier III identified students in conjunction with the student's assigned classroom teacher:

  • Implement and track all Teir III support for all identified students
  • Design systems and tools to measure the effectiveness of Tier III support
  • Refine Tier III strategies and support as needed to improve effectiveness
  • Work with the special education coordinator, school psychologist and Student Support Team (SST) to facilitate eligibility for special education
  • Meet and instruct identified students in the locations and at the times designated
  • Administer and analyze standardized testing data and adjust instructional strategies, as needed, to maximize probability of student success
  • Participate in curriculum review and design
  • Effectively collaborate with department and/or grade-level teachers and other colleagues
  • Effectively implement district and building initiatives
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education
  • Create active learning environment and collaboratively design settings that foster an enriching, nurturing, and safe climate where diversity and academic risk taking are valued
  • Hold and articulate high expectations for student learning, achievement, and behavior
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives and standards-based instruction
  • Communicate instruction clearly and effectively
  • Provide effective classroom management that includes teaching routines and procedures to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Plan a program for students that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports in a timely and consistent manner
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations
  • Maintain good communication with parents/legal guardians
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment/materials, and facilities
  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations
  • Serve on committees as assigned
  • 1:1 environment with Chromebooks
  • Working knowledge of the Google suite including Google Classroom
  • Attend required meetings
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or supervisor
Provide the following school-wide support when needed
  • Use data to help teachers identify and group students who need additional supports
  • Help teachers develop and implement classroom-based, developmentally appropriate Tier II interventions for individual and/or groups of students to achieve grade level standards
  • Support teachers in documenting student's progress
  • Facilitate the SST process with the principal, support staff, and instructional staff
  • Gather and organize grade-level/subject area universal assessment tools and develop assessments for progress monitoring purposes for all teachers
  • Design collaborative systems to support the sharing of RtI best practices
  • Participate in professional growth and development and stay abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, members in professional organizations of the subject taught, and attendance at corporation-sponsored in-services
  • Facilitate meetings and professional development opportunities
Requirements
  • Complete and pass an Expanded Criminal Background and CPS Check
Compensation
  • Competitive pay based upon experience
Contracted days

180 student days plus an additional 4 staff days

  • Extended contract for an additional 5 days for a total of 189 days
