Qualifications

  • Requires 48 college credit hours or pass the state paraprofessional test.
  • Skills in the use of computers.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to complete annual professional development training.
  • Conscientiously accept and follow directions.
  • Adaptable to a variety of situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with daily instruction.
  • Assist students in achieving their individual objectives.
  • Work with small groups of students to learn or reinforce materials as directed by the teacher.
  • Perform clerical duties and record keeping as assigned by the teacher.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher.
  • Access communication and instructional resources and support student use of computers.
  • Participate in professional development training programs.
  • Communicates effectively with supervising teacher about classroom and student issues, and communicates with students in learning-supporting manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support students with developing social and behavioral skills.
