Job summary

LaPorte Community School Corporation seeks an ENL Assistant for Hailmann Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. This 32.5-hour-per-week role supports classroom teachers and ENL staff to assist students for whom English is a second language.

Experience with bilingual education and Spanish language knowledge is highly desirable. The role includes collaboration with ENL teachers, participation in meetings, and ongoing ESL training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of college experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a schedule within the assigned elementary school to work with ENL students.
• Become familiar with the core curriculum for each elementary grade level for which the tutor has students.
• Become familiar with the essential skills for each elementary grade level for which the tutor has students.
• Utilize ESL strategies to assist with grade-level essential skills and to promote the ENL curriculum.
• Work within the ENL curriculum for the elementary program, assisting teachers within and outside of the classroom with ENL students.
• Assist LaPorte High School ENL tutors within the elementary building.
• Attend pertinent meetings as directed by the ENL supervisor(s) and ENL teacher.
• Attend training in ESL techniques and methodology when provided.
