Job summary

Metter Elementary School is seeking a Daycare Assistant to support students in a busy elementary setting. Under the daycare director, you will reinforce basic learning, assist with instructional materials, and help maintain a safe, orderly classroom.

You will work with students individually and in small groups, supervise lunch, bus duty, field trips, and non-instructional times, and assist with parent communication and records. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces basic learning with students individually and in small groups.
• Assists in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
• Assists with record-keeping documenting student learning and performance.
• Supports classroom behavioral management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervises non-instructional areas (lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall).
• Assists students on field trips for supervision.
• Distributes and uses educational materials as needed.
• Assists director with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Supports students with special needs to maximize inclusion and achievement.
• Assists students with daily living activities as needed.
