Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking a school crossing guard to monitor elementary crosswalks and help students cross safely. You will stop traffic with a flag, observe for unsafe situations, and report incidents to maintain school-area safety.

Hours per day and the schedule will be set by the building administrator, with a maximum of two hours daily. Prior district crossing-guard training is highly desirable, and the role requires reliability, fairness, and strong communication in a diverse school

Qualifications

• Know office/school policies related to crosswalk safety.
• Ability to work cooperatively with school staff.
• Maintain fairness when interacting with students.

Responsibilities

• Monitor elementary crosswalks and stop traffic to assist students crossing.
• Observe student behavior and traffic flow to prevent accidents.
• Report inappropriate behavior and vehicles that fail to stop.
