Qualifications

• Hold a Texas counselor’s certificate or eligible for permit.
• Bachelor’s degree required for assignment.
• Two years of classroom teaching experience preferred.
• School counseling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers and staff.
• Interpret and share information about student achievement with relevant stakeholders.
• Identify at-risk behaviors and coordinate interventions with teachers.
• Respond promptly to parent and student inquiries.
• Conduct required classroom guidance activities on a scheduled basis.
• Inform staff and the public about the guidance program through meetings and newsletters.
• Coordinate placement for new students and assist with ARD meetings.
• Maintain ongoing data collection and dissemination related to student information.
• Provide career and educational counseling and conduct small groups for at-risk students.

Education

Hold a Texas counselor’s certificate, or eligible for a permit for a counselor’s certificate.
