Job summary

EdAdvance, a public nonprofit Regional Educational Service Center, is seeking an Elementary Classroom Teacher for the Partnership Learning Academy in Terryville, CT. The role entails implementing district-approved curriculum, differentiating instruction, and collaborating with families and school teams to promote student growth.

The position supports SEL integration, maintains accurate records, and engages with paraprofessionals.

Qualifications

• Active Connecticut Certification in Elementary Education (Endorsement #305).
• Preference for active Certification in Special Education (Endorsements #065, #165, #265, or #113) or cross-endorsement.
• Ability to withstand the physical demands of frequent standing, bending, kneeling and therapeutic holding, as required.
• Regular and consistent attendance is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
• Adapts core elementary subjects to match unique learning styles and cognitive levels.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that engage students to maximize learning.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
• Directs, supervises, and supports classroom paraprofessionals.
• Integrates social-emotional learning (SEL) directly into daily academic routines.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Assists with progress monitoring and designing measurable IEP goals and objectives.
• Participates in physical safety or crisis management training required for high-risk behaviors.
• Utilizes restorative practices to help students regulate their behavior, develop perspective-taking, and take personal responsibility for their actions.
• Other duties as may be assigned

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students; and regularly collaborating with school team and families
