Qualifications

• RI Teaching Certification required.
• Undergraduate degree in Education or related field.
• Maintain professional development credits as required by contract and certification.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science to pupils using the adopted curriculum and additional activities.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and state-mpecified subject matter and district procedures.
• Develops lesson plans and provides individualized and small group instruction to meet each pupil's needs.
• Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to optimize instructional time.
• Maintains classroom behavior standards to create a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates pupil progress, keeps records, and prepares progress reports for families.
• Communicates with parents through conferences and other means about pupil progress.
• Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with staff to support health, attitudes, and learning.
• Creates engaging displays and displays to foster a stimulating learning environment.
• Maintains professional competence through district-provided and self-initiated growth activities.
• Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains inventory records.
• Supervises pupils during assigned activities and administers group standardized tests as required.
• Participates in curriculum development programs and school-wide activities.
