Job summary

ALA Midlands in Irmo, SC, is accepting applications for an Elementary Campus Director to lead the school’s program, staff, and community engagement. The role requires guiding instructional leadership, overseeing enrollment, and ensuring high student achievement within the organization's educational model.

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's or higher, pass a background check, and bring prior leadership experience; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defines the responsibilities and accountability of staff members and develops plans for interpreting the school program to the community.
• Evaluates student progress in the instructional program and supervises staff performance.
• Set and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement aligned with organizational goals.
• Create a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration among staff, teachers, students and families.
• Oversee all programs, services, and activities to ensure objectives are met.
• Manage student enrollment to meet targeted projections.
• Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior, performance, and attendance.
• Work with teachers to improve teaching practice through coaching and professional development.
• Recruit, select, and hire school staff.
• Serve as liaison between teachers, parents, and the community.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Charter One works with schools across the country to provide all-inclusive education management services. At Charter One we pride ourselves on our thorough knowledge of charter school operations, academics, finance, human resources, information technology, marketing, and more. We handle the day-to-day work so that client school boards can focus on governance and policy issues to be sure that the vision and mission of the school are being carried out properly.

ALA Midlands is planning to open its doors in Fall 2027 in Irmo, South Carolina and is now accepting applications for an Elementary Campus Director. Applicants must be willing to undergo a background check.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Defines the responsibilities and accountability of staff members and develops plans for interpreting the school program to the community.
• Evaluates student progress in the instructional program by means that include the maintaining of up-to-date student data. The director supervises and appraises the performance of the school staff.
• Set and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement that are in line with the goals of the organization.
• Create a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration amongst the staff, teachers, students and families.
• Oversee all programs, services, and activities to ensure that program objectives are met.
• Manage student enrollment process to ensure that the school achieves its targeted enrollment projections.
• Ensure appropriate standards of student behavior, performance, and attendance and ensures that all disciplinary issues are addressed fairly and immediately.
• Work with teachers to improve their teaching practice through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning.
• Recruit, select, and hire school staff, including teachers and school-based support staff.
• Serve as liaison between teachers, parents, and the community.
• Other duties as assigned.
