Job summary

Tamaqua Area School District is seeking a K-5 Behavior Analyst/Interventionist to provide direct and indirect behavioral support within a MTSS framework. You will conduct FBAs, develop BIPs, and coach staff across classrooms to promote positive student behavior.

The role emphasizes collaboration with school counselors, psychologists, and families, with data-driven decision-making and thorough documentation in compliance with FERPA and state regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, School Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Pennsylvania certification or licensure appropriate to the role (e.g., BCBA/BCaBA or PA Educational Specialist Certificate) or eligibility to obtain within district timeframe.
  • Experience with elementary-age students in school or clinical behavioral settings.
  • Knowledge of functional behavior assessment, behavior intervention planning, and data collection methods.
  • Working knowledge of PBIS, MTSS, and trauma-informed care principles.
  • Current clearances (Act 24/34/114/151) or ability to obtain prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct FBAs and develop data-driven BIPs for identified students in collaboration with school psychologists, special education staff, and families.
  • Provide direct behavioral intervention and coaching to individual students and small groups using evidence-based strategies.
  • Support classroom teachers in implementing behavior plans with fidelity, including modeling and co-teaching.
  • Collect, graph, and analyze behavioral data to monitor progress and adjust interventions.
  • Assist in designing and monitoring building-wide PBIS systems (Tier 1–3).
  • Participate in crisis prevention and de-escalation as part of the behavioral support team.
  • Train and coach paraprofessionals and staff on behavior management and trauma-informed practices.
  • Coordinate services with counselors, psychologists, and outside agencies for students with significant needs.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about progress and strategies.
  • Maintain confidential documentation in compliance with FERPA, IDEA, and district policy.
  • Participate in IEP and 504 meetings with data and recommendations.
