Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to work in the Octorara Public School District. The role focuses on behavior management for elementary students (grades K-2) under the supervision of a BCBA, with interventions implemented to transfer skills to natural supports.

The position runs Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:45pm, aligned to the school calendar for a 10-month term with potential for extended-year summer programs.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver's License Required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• RBT Certification required or ability to obtain RBT within first 60 days of employment.
• At least 1 year of work experience with children or adolescents with behavior challenges preferred.
• Requires strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and technology skills. Must be adaptable to changing workload, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft Office Applications (especially Excel), experience with data collection/analyzing platforms.
• Ability to meet 100% mastery of district safety techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provides behavior management support to individuals in an Elementary school setting (grades K-2). Carries out specific interventions developed by the Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
• Transfers skills to individuals’ natural supports in the least restrictive environment.
• Supports teachers and staff in managing student behaviors, serves as an exemplar to staff and ensures efficient communication between the school, Devereux, and school district representatives.
