Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university or institution.
• Foundations of special education course, or willingness to take it as a term of employment.
• Will work towards obtaining a provisional Special Education License from Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administrators, support staff and parents.
• Assess and monitor student achievement and maintain records for reporting.
• Design and implement instructional strategies and activities.
• Manage student behaviors to create a conducive learning environment.
• Coordinate instructional activities with other staff to maximize learning opportunities.
• Communicate with students and parents about progress and expectations.
• Provide development and support for IEPs, BSPs, etc.
