Job summary

Great Hearts is seeking an Elementary Art Teacher to join a networked family of classical schools. The role focuses on delivering a fine arts education as part of the core curriculum, including studio art, with emphasis on cultivating truth, goodness, and beauty in students.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree, US work authorization, and are committed to professional growth within a mission-driven culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role.
  • Certification is not required for general education.
  • All majors are welcome.
  • US work authorization is required, but we do accept OPT/CPT candidates.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Position Title: Elementary Art Teacher Location: Great Hearts Blossom Rock Academy, 10100 South Miners Way Trail Apache Junction, AZ 85120 Reports To: Headmaster FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Fine Arts at Great Hearts:

Fine Arts are not just electives but part of the core curriculum at Great Hearts: all students study music, drama, poetry and studio art. Studio Art coursework includes both applied focus on technique and imitation of masterworks, as well as substantive arts history, and appreciation. We boast a stellar faculty across the fine arts curriculum, most of whom are professional artists and performers.
