Job summary

Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is seeking dependable AmeriCorps tutors to support elementary literacy and mathematics. You will work with teachers to provide ongoing intervention, build relationships, and help students feel they belong at school.

You'll participate in training days, document progress, and engage in service events; prior tutoring/mentoring is preferred but not required, with eligibility checks completed before service begins.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and ability to meet AmeriCorps eligibility requirements.
• U.S. citizenship, U.S. national status, or lawful permanent resident status.
• Tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, youth-development, literacy, or elementary-math experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support assigned students during ELA, math intervention, WIN, Strong Roots, and RTI programs.
• Reinforce teacher-led lessons through prompts, feedback, encouragement, and targeted small-group support.
• Lead teacher-prepared math centers, fluency routines, or conferences and reading-fluency conferences.
• Help students use i-Ready My Path and other approved learning tools productively.
• Build caring, professional relationships; report safety or student-welfare concerns.
• Prepare materials; record attendance and progress data; complete timesheets; attend onboarding and trainings.
