Job summary

Children’s Aid Group Leader leads and supervises groups of elementary school participants during after school and summer programs under the guidance of a Program Director or Content Specialist. This role supports academic enrichment, social-emotional development, and recreational activities in a safe, structured environment while collaborating with program leadership and school staff.

Must be available to work during designated afterschool and/or summer program hours.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required and up to 2 years of experience working with children or youth.
  • College degree preferred and 2+ years of experience working with children or youth.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage groups of 20–25 elementary school students.
  • Implement academic, enrichment, and recreational activities as directed.
  • Provide homework help and small-group academic support in reading and math and other instructional subjects.
  • Promote positive behavior and support social-emotional development.
  • Serve as a positive role model and maintain a safe, respectful environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and provide guidance on daily activities as needed.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise games, sports, arts, and special projects.
  • Supervise students during snacks, transitions, and special activities.
  • Maintain attendance and basic participant documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with program staff and participate in meetings and trainings.
  • Ensure equipment and materials are properly used and returned.
  • Assist with program operations and special events as needed.
  • Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members in the program and schools.
  • Responsible for completing mandated trainings and ongoing professional development opportunities that foster a growth mindset.
  • Pickup and transport program participants from their school to the Center during the school year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
