Job summary

The Baylor College of Medicine St-Pierre lab is seeking a Research Associate to lead electrophysiology and optical imaging efforts. You will work with genetically encoded voltage indicators and optogenetic silencers, combining multi-photon recordings with optical excitation in vitro and in vivo.

The role requires hands-on experience with brain slices or dissociated neurons, maintaining a rig, and data analysis. This onsite position offers collaboration and advancement in brain imaging techniques.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing electrophysiology in dissociated neurons, brain slices or both.
  • Experience dissecting rat cortical/hippocampal neurons.
  • Maintaining an electrophysiology rig.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare brain slices or dissociated neurons for experiments.
  • Conduct electrophysiology with optogenetic activation or optical imaging.
  • Maintain reagents, tools, and an electrophysiology rig.
  • Analyze data with commercial software or custom pipelines.
  • Teach techniques and experimental design to lab members.
  • Communicate results in meetings and conferences.
  • Plan, direct and conduct experiments; document results.
