Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Hospitals in Memphis, TN seeks a Physician to work with the nursing staff and physicians to provide comprehensive medical services and ensure the safety and quality of care in the physician practice and hospitals.

You will diagnose, treat, and manage patients, coordinate care with a multidisciplinary team, supervise staff, and uphold safety and quality standards while engaging in health promotion programs. An MD/DO is required and board certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• MD/DO Medicine required.
• Tennessee license with Tennessee State Board of Medical Examiners.
• AOA Board Certified Physician-Specialty or NBOME/ABMS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations and assessments to diagnose and treat patients.
• Prescribes pharmaceuticals and treatment regimens as appropriate.
• Refers patients to specialists and to relevant care components as appropriate.
• Evaluates need for prescription medicines and considers alternative therapies.
• Manages daily operations of a medical program or unit.
• Coordinates patient care activities of nursing and support staff.
• Follows departmental policies, safety and quality standards.
• Participates in health promotion and education programs.
• Explains procedures and test results to patients and families.
• Orders, performs and interprets tests to diagnose conditions.
• Maintains documentation within 3 days of visit or discharge.
• Coordinates with nurses, social workers, rehab therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and others.
• Supports call coverage for the practice and hospitals.
• Maintains productivity and focuses on patient and family satisfaction.
• Develops partnerships with physicians and staff.
