Job summary

Dometic is seeking an Electronics Test Technician in Huntsville, AL to verify, validate and support Marine charging and power solutions. You'll apply hardware and software testing skills from component level to system level, collaborating with design and manufacturing teams.

You will troubleshoot, document results, perform environmental/EMC testing, and support prototypes through PCB rework. A background in electrical/electronic testing with CAN/SPI/I2C/RS232 interfaces and EMC standards is

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of electronic testing and design experience.
• Experience with PCB rework and testing processes.
• Knowledge of CAN, SPI, I2C, and RS232 interfaces.
• Familiar with EMC testing and environmental testing standards.
• Strong MS Office skills (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and testing to support product development, production, and field service.
• Support root cause analysis of components in development or production.
• Document test processes and results; develop best practices.
• Perform PCBAs rework to support testing and development.
• Conduct design validation tests (environmental, EMC, HALT/HASS).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout NPD.
• Interact with customers and suppliers; represent Dometic Marine.
• Provide test equipment troubleshooting and repairs for production.

We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Electronics Test Technician. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will work in Huntsville, AL.

About the position

As Electronics Test Technician of the MPS team, you will be involved in focusing on performing product design verification, validation, launch and support of products and components focused on Marine AC / DC charging systems, lithium-ion battery integration, connectivity, and mobile power solutions for inboard and outboard leisure craft. From troubleshooting issues at the component level to executing detailed test plans, the Test Technician applies hardware and software solutions to meet testing requirements and functional targets.

Your main responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and testing to support product development, production, and field service.
• Participate and support root cause analysis of components in development or in production.
• Rigorously document test processes and results, develop best practices and procedures.
• Perform rework of prototype PCBAs to support testing and development.
• Conduct design validation tests (environmental, EMC, HASS / HALT, etc.)
• Work in multi‑function new product development teams, including program/product management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management and production.
• Interact with customers and suppliers and represent Dometic Marine.
• Support production by troubleshooting and repairing test equipment as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

A suitable background would be a solid experience within manufacturing and test engineering as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• University or Technical Institute qualifications in Electrical, Computer, Electro‑Mechanical, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 2+ years of industry or relevant electronic testing and design experience; candidates with 5+ years are preferred
• Consumer electronic product test experience, ideally related to automotive, boating and/or safety critical systems
• Experienced with PCB rework and testing processes, including precision soldering
• Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I2C, or RS232
• Experience with testing EMC related issues during the certification testing of a product
• Knowledge of industry standards such as SAE, ASTM, ISO, and ISO9001
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Bonus qualifications and experience:

• Familiar with lithium batteries and battery management
• Familiar with power inverters and chargers including AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion
• Familiar with alternators, generators, or motors
