Dometic is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Stuart/Port St Lucie team. You’ll contribute to product development, from concept to validation, for digital switching solutions used by OEM boat manufacturers.

The role covers design, verification, validation, launch, and ongoing support within a global, fast‑paced environment, with opportunities to advance and collaborate across functions including manufacturing and supply chain.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
• 2+ years of Mechanical Design experience focusing on electro‑mechanical products
• Familiar with ISO9001 requirements and procedures
• Experience with CAD tools and design for manufacturability
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage documentation

Responsibilities

• Design and assemble components including concept generation, 3D modeling, material selection, stress analysis
• Research and develop system solutions for identified market opportunities
• Prepare design documentation such as drawings, specifications, and test reports
• Design using QFD, CAD and DFMEA per ISO9001
• Participate in full development cycle from requirements to support
• Manage BOMs and support make-versus-buy decisions
• Build supplier relationships and track project status

We are a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Mechanical Engineer. This position reports to Operations Manager/Engineering Manager and will work in Stuart/Port St Lucie.

About the position

As a Mechanical Engineer in the Stuart/Port St Lucie team, you will be involved in product development including design, verification, validation, launch, and support of products and components primarily used in digital switching for OEM boat manufacturers.

Your main responsibilities

• Design and assemble components including concept generation, 3D modeling, material selection, stress analysis, etc.
• Research and develop system solutions for identified market opportunities
• Prepare design documentation for new products and components such as drawings, engineering specifications, and test reports
• Design products and components utilizing prescribed tools such as QFD, CAD, and DFMEA’s in accordance with ISO9001 requirements and procedures
• Participate in the full development cycle including requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, validation, documentation, and on-going support.
• Work within multi-function/new product development teams including program and product management, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, and production
• Hold design reviews and conduct validation tests (salt spray, lifecycle, etc.).
• Manage Bill of Materials for production assemblies
• Participate in “make versus buy” decisions for components and/or assemblies
• Develop project plans, coordinate activities, and report on project status
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers

A suitable background would be a

solid experience within Engineering and Manufacturing – as well as the following qualifications and experiences:

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
• Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to manage a variety of tasks
• 2+ years of Mechanical Design experience specializing in electro-mechanical products
• Proficient with Solid Works, Creo Parametric and PDMLink/Windchill or similar CAD suites
• Strong proficiency with MS Office programs including
• Familiar with volume production processes including casting, extrusions, powdered metals, injection molding, precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding
• Thorough knowledge of various materials and secondary coatings
• Familiar with MRP systems to control engineering Bills of Materials
• Proficient in design procedures, specifications, and engineering software/simulation tools
• Strong ability to produce reliable and cost-effective designs for industrial applications
• Strong understanding of test methodology and design of experiments
• Familiar with instrumentation, sensors, and test equipment
• Working knowledge of safety regulations (UL, CSA, CE and other regulatory requirements)
• Apply industry standards such as SAE, ASTM, ISO; familiarity with ISO9001 requirements
• Familiarity with QFD, design, and process FMEAs
