Job summary

Gavial Engineering & Manufacturing in California is seeking an Electronics Test Technician to perform electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical tests on systems and subassemblies to verify they meet specifications and to identify failures.

You will read procedures and schematics, operate test equipment such as multimeters, hi-pot testers, signal generators, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, and document results. This is a full-time onsite role with a standard 8-hour shift and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related college degree preferred.
• 1–2 years experience as an Electronics Test Technician.
• Ability to read procedures, schematics and test manuals.
• Familiarity with lab test equipment and instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Read procedures, work orders, and schematics to determine testing method.
• Test functional performance under environmental conditions.
• Connect units to test equipment such as DMM, hi-pot tester, oscilloscope.
• Analyze test results to locate causes of failures.
• Record data and generate non-conformance reports for major defects.
• Consult with engineers to resolve testing issues.
• Set up test equipment for nonstandard or returned units.

Electronics Test Technician

The Electronics Test Technician conducts a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure each unit functions according to specifications or to determine the cause of a unit failure by performing the following duties.

Electronics Test Technician Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Reads test procedures, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
• Tests functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity.
• Connects unit to be tested to test equipment such as digital multi-meter, hi-pot tester, signal generator, frequency meter, spectrum analyzer or oscilloscope.
• Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure, applying electronics theory to troubleshoot down to the component level.
• Reads dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, resistance and capacitance.
• Compares results with specifications and records test data or plots test results on graph.
• Records minor defects on tag attached to unit and returns unit to production department for repair. Generates Non-Conformance Reports for major defects.
• Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.
• Devises test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units.

Education And Experience

• High School or GED degree
• College degree in Electronics Theory from 2-year college or technical school preferred.
• 1 - 2 years equivalent education, training and experience as an Electronics Test Technician.

Schedule

Full time, 8-hour shift; Monday to Friday

Work Environment

Onsite, Manufacturing facility.
