Job summary

Gavial Engineering & Manufacturing seeks an Electronics Test Technician to perform a variety of tests on electronic systems, subassemblies and parts to verify function and identify failures. You will read procedures, set up equipment and document results.

Responsibilities include testing under environmental conditions, analyzing results, and collaborating with engineers and production staff to resolve issues. This is a full-time onsite role at our Santa Maria facility in California.

Qualifications

• High School or GED; college degree in Electronics Theory preferred.
• 1–2 years related experience in electronics testing or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret test procedures, wiring diagrams and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Reads test procedures, work orders, test manuals, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment.
• Tests functional performance of systems under specified environmental conditions (temperature, vibration, humidity).
• Connects units to test equipment (DMM, hi-pot, signal generator, spectrum analyzer or oscilloscope).
• Analyzes test results to determine cause of failure and documents findings.
• Records test data and generates Non-Conformance Reports for major defects.
• Confers with engineers and production staff to resolve testing issues.
• Devises test setups for nonstandard or customer-returned units.

The Electronics Test Technician conducts a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure each unit functions according to specifications or to determine the cause of a unit failure by performing the following duties.

Electronics Test Technician Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reads test procedures, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
• Tests functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature change, vibration, pressure, and humidity.
• Connects unit to be tested to test equipment such as digital multi-meter, hi-pot tester, signal generator, frequency meter, spectrum analyzer or oscilloscope.
• Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure, applying electronics theory to troubleshoot down to the component level.
• Reads dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, resistance and capacitance.
• Compares results with specifications and records test data or plots test results on graph.
• Records minor defects on tag attached to unit and returns unit to production department for repair. Generates Non-Conformance Reports for major defects.
• Confers with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.
• Devises test equipment setup to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units.

Education and Experience:

• High School or GED degree
• College degree in Electronics Theory from 2-year college or technical school preferred.
• 1 - 2 years equivalent education, training and experience as an Electronics Test Technician.

Schedule: Full time, 8-hour shift; Monday to Friday

Work Environment: Onsite, Manufacturing facility.
