Job summary

Omaha Public Schools is seeking an Electronics Technician to repair, maintain, and install mechanical/electrical sub-systems of security, door access, cameras, and safety systems at the OPS Service Center in Omaha, NE. The role reports to the Maintenance Manager and requires strong diagnostic and communication skills.

The position is full-time with a salary schedule and benefits. Applicants must meet physical requirements and pass background checks and a pre-employment assessment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (Associate’s degree in Electronics preferred).
• Minimum of five years of full-time experience with Security, Camera & Access Controls systems.
• Knowledge with Genetec, DMP, Mercury, HID; Axis hardware preferred.
• Strong PC skills and familiarity with CMMS software.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose network systems, including IP networking, VLANs, and DHCP reservations.
• Diagnose, repair, and install Intrusion Security, Camera & Access Controls systems.
• Prepare and manage the electronic security budget for upkeep and new equipment.
• Enter card access door schedules for events as prompted by building admins.
• Work outside normal hours as needed to meet requirements.
• Respond to emergencies to resolve safety/security concerns.
• Inspect fire alarm panels and detectors for compliance.
• Record parts, materials, and repair procedures.
• Maintain records for financial accountability of the program.
• Communicate effectively with staff and the public.
