The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a Professional Research Assistant at JILA Electronics Shop in Boulder. This highly collaborative, team-based role provides technical consulting, design services, and hands-on support to scientists and students in analog and digital electronics research, including design, testing, repair, and production.

You will construct and test equipment to meet stringent specs, mentor shop customers, and learn new technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics, or related STEM field.
Experience producing sophisticated digital and/or analog electronics designs.
Experience layout/design/assembly/troubleshooting of PCB projects.
Working knowledge of KiCad.
Experience tutoring students in higher education.

Responsibilities

Construct and test new equipment to meet stringent specifications from JILA scientists.
Produce custom-made items using tools such as drill press, milling machine, soldering equipment, etc.
Provide mentoring and instruction to JILA students and shop customers with electronics design options.
Seek out and learn new technologies to support current and future research needs.
Support students and researchers with electronics production and design needs in coordination with Electronics Engineers.
Follow guidance to develop design, testing, and repair of electronics devices.
