Internal Posting – Only current North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) employees in a temporary or permanent, full-time or part-time position, or eligible layoff candidates, may apply.
This is a technical role involving traffic signals, electronic device repair, computer-based signal systems, roadway/sign lighting, and all ITS Devices across Division Twelve. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing traffic control equipment, programming signals in fiber optic, isolated, and wireless radio systems, and providing training and technical support. The role requires maintaining records, effective communication, and assisting in contract management. Operability in outdoor conditions, emergency response, and possibly supervising technicians are also expected.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Additional Requirements
Safety toe shoes required. Valid North Carolina Class A CDL with 'N' endorsement or ability to obtain within 360 days of hire. Must be able to operate a bucket truck and work outdoors in variable weather.
Minimum Education & Experience
Associate’s degree in electronics and two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensure may be required.
