Job description

SUMMARY

The Electronics Technician II supports operations and maintenance of one or more of the following systems: TOSS, Ground Radar, Threat Simulators/Systems, transport networks, local area networks, Link 16, DTS, HSMT, NavAids, Ground-To-Air Radios, and/or other duties as required. Performs routine and complex preventive and remedial maintenance on assigned Range systems and other associated electronic equipment to the component level, as well as troubleshooting complex problems and providing guidance to other technicians as required. The equipment includes but is not limited to electronic transmitting and receiving equipment, digital and analog circuits and computers, network equipment, industrial measuring and controlling equipment, microwave amplifiers and transmission lines, high voltage power supplies and keying circuits, indicators and displays, and camera/antenna positioning systems.

DUTIES
  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and restores equipment operations.
  • Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals, TO's, or similar documents.
  • Comprehends interrelationships of circuits and plans work sequence, selecting tools and testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of Internet Protocol (IP) addressing and configuration of various network capable equipment.
  • Performs periodic maintenance inspections.
  • Performs installation tasks on projects and assignments as necessary; assists engineering in integration and modifications of existing systems and infrastructure.
  • Documents work in Maximo maintenance management system; updates drawings to reflect current configuration and interconnections.
  • Communicates effectively in both oral and written form, establishes and maintains successful work relationships, analyzes and resolves problems, makes decisions independently, works in a team environment, and meets deadlines.
  • Performs work in an ISO compliant/certified environment; demonstrates understanding of operations and maintenance reporting criteria.
EDUCATION

Desired qualifications: associate's degree in electronics engineering or equivalent work‑related experience.

EXPERIENCE

At least 3 years of hands‑on experience as a technician operating and maintaining digital and analog electronic equipment resulting in in‑depth knowledge of systems theory of operation. Graduate from an accredited two‑year technical school with courses in Math, Basic Electronics, and Microwave Theory or military equivalent with emphasis on COMM or R.F. disciplines.

Experience working with various network equipment manufacturers – Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, General Dynamics, Collins Aerospace.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • Good understanding of electronics theory, network theory, and test equipment used for maintenance and repair of various equipment and data distribution systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot to the component level and make needed repairs.
  • Understand the theory of operations for complex electronic circuitry and systems; apply knowledge to maintenance functions.
CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic test equipment used for preventive and remedial maintenance, e.g., oscilloscope, volt‑ohm meters, frequency counters and generators, logic analyzers/emulators, computers, and waveform monitors.
  • Ability to perform maintenance, operations and preventive maintenance using applicable test equipment.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Accurate tracking of operations and maintenance activities using applicable software tools, such as Maximo, NDCAR, etc.
  • Execute other related duties as required; demonstrate expertise, initiative, and professional attitude toward customers and fellow employees.
WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Must be able to work in a field environment with work at remote locations. Must lift 40 lbs, climb ladders, towers and equipment to a minimum of 50 feet. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must have strong computer and organizational skills. Must read and understand English. Must travel as required by the company. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and contacts.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Can obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
FOR TONOPAH/BEATTY POSITIONS
  • Must be able to stay overnight on location at a company provided domicile for the four‑day work week.
  • Remote living allowance (RLA) will be provided in addition to base salary.
  • Company vehicle will be provided for transportation to and from work.
