Job summary

LS Cable & System U S A Inc in North Carolina is seeking an Electronic Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and install production and support equipment.

Overview

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: This position is for troubleshooting, repair, and installation of production and support equipment. Responsibilities include handling general repair work and maintenance on electrical/electronic components, motors, motor drives, and related hardware; assisting with the assembly and installation of new equipment; using various hand and power tools; and performing routine preventive maintenance and servicing of electronic equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Repair production and spare equipment when failures are electrical or electronic in nature. Includes minor soldering, alignment, grinding, disassembly and reassembly of equipment of various sizes. Help troubleshoot equipment by observing operation from an electronic perspective.
  • Design, fabricate, assemble and install parts, fixtures or entire assemblies as requested by Engineering or Department managers.
  • Initiate necessary parts requests for required electronic supplies to complete repairs or installations.
  • Inspect and calibrate various pieces of production equipment.
  • Document drawings, layouts, time sheets, work orders, and safety or cost-reduction proposals.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the General Maintenance Supervisor.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment as an Electronic Technician.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2-year technical degree (Associate of Science) in electronics, robotics, general technology or related technical field preferred.
  • Broad maintenance knowledge in mechanical, electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Able to read and interpret gauges as well as read and modify complex engineering documents and drawings.
  • Able to learn and understand technical aspects of PLC platforms and software, motor control and drive packages, hydraulic/pneumatic technologies, and safety and equipment control devices.
Skills and Abilities Required
  • Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide information to others, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain good attendance and punctuality, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in the area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
  • This role requires significant standing and walking during the workday; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs may be necessary.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements
  • On-the-job training with company systems – SAP, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
